Memorial Day Ceremony

This year, the Regional Military Museum's annual Memorial Day ceremony will take place on Monday, May 28, from 10:30am to 12:30pm. The ceremony will be hosted by Maj. Gen. (Ret) Hunt Downer, and will include a flag raising observance, accompanied by a 21 gun salute, national anthem, pledge of allegiance, and a patriotic melody. Rev. Wilmer Todd will deliver the keynote address. Patriotic songs will be performed by the NSU Sinfonia Singers of Phi Mu Alpha. Food and beverages will be served after the ceremony. The first floor of our new expansion will be open for the public to see. We look forward to the event, and hope all are available to attend.

May's Round Table lecture will take place on Tuesday, May 15th, at the Terrebonne Parish Main Branch Library at 6:00pm. This month's speaker will be Dr. Sam Cavell, an Assistant Professor of Military History at Southeastern Louisiana University, and her topic will be a Civil War naval based lecture entitled "'A Ship's a Fool to Fight a Fort': Farragut Explodes the Myth at New Orleans and Mobile, 1862-1864." As always, all lectures are free and open to the public.

Annual Live Fire Demo

The Regional Military Museum's annual live fire demo will take place on Saturday, April 28, at the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Range from 1:00pm - 5:00pm. Come see authentic military weapons being used! Admission is free! If you have a weapon you would like to fire/display, please contact the range master at (985) 856-4827.
